Priča o austrijskoj poduzetničkoj povijesti započela je i 1895. godine kada je, nakon što je izumio prvi električni brusač kamena za nakit, Daniel Swarovski osnovao obiteljsko poduzeće u pokrajini Tirol. Od tada, naziv Swarovski postao je sinonim u svijetu za najjčišće kristale, precizno brušenje i sjajan duh inovacija. Izvorno poduzeće nastavilo se granati u dodatne poslovne linije. Danas tvrtke Swarovski grupe nude svijetu obilje poliranog nakita i kristalnih proizvoda, alata za brušenje i rezanje, kao i sportsku optiku. Čak i ako na prvi pogled izgledaju prilično raznoliki proizvodi, sve tvrtke u grupi dijele važnu vezu koja ih ujedinjuje, a to je nevjerojatno znanje o proizvodnji i inženjerstvu koje je izraslo iz zahtjeva obitelji Swarovski za sve većom preciznošću.

Osnivanje SWAROVSKI OPTIK

Godine 1935. Wilhelm Swarovski, sin izvornog osnivača, imao je samo 17 godina života. Kao strastveni hobi astronom, Wilhelmova strast bila je “biti bliže zvijezdama”, kao što je i sam opisao, probudila je ambiciju izgradnje vlastitog poboljšanog binoculara. Uz pristup specijaliziranoj tehnologiji proizvodnje i završne obrade stakla koja se već koristila za izradu nakita, Wilhelm je u očevoj tvornici uspio razviti izradu nove prizme i proces brušenja koji je primijenio u izgradnji svog prvog binokulara 6×30. Wilhelm je 1949. osnovao SWAROVSKI OPTIK KG u mjestu Absam, Tirol, postavivši tako kamen temeljac za sportsku optiku globalne reputacije. Prvi serijski proizvod tvrtke, Habicht 7×42, još uvijek je industrijski standard u području lovne optike i do danas nastavlja tradiciju SWAROVSKI OPTIK u najboljem svjetlu svog osnivača.

2014 STEYR MANNLICHER celebrated its 150th anniversary. Based on a centuries old tradition in producing weapons, the gunsmith Josef Werndl founded the “Josef & Franz Werndl & Company, Waffenfabrik und Sägemühle in Oberletten” in 1864, which should become the “Österreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft – ŒWG” and later the “Steyr-Daimler-Puch A.G.”
